Proven Leadership for a Better Long Island

Over the past two years, I’ve worked tirelessly as your Assemblyman to advance the needs of the 15th Assembly District and all New Yorkers. With a focus on bipartisanship, common sense and practical solutions, we’ve made notable progress. Here’s how:

  • Lowering Taxes and Putting Your Money Back in Your Pocket: Tireless fought against tax increases and supported legislation to make government smaller, more accountable, and more efficient.

  • Protecting Local Control: Successfully defeated multiple attempts to undermine local authority over housing.

  • Safeguarding Property Rights: Spearheaded a statewide effort to eliminate squatters’ rights.

  • Enhancing Public Safety: Supported law enforcement and public safety measures.

  • Advancing Education and Environment: Championed improvements in education and environmental conservation.

  • Supporting Seniors and Vulnerable Populations: Advocated for seniors and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Taxes:

As your Assemblyman, Jake Blumencranz is committed to lowering taxes, reducing the burden of government, and ensuring that Long Islanders can thrive without unnecessary financial strain. He has been a steadfast advocate for taxpayers, focusing on meaningful reforms that make government smaller and more efficient. Jake's legislative efforts are aimed at protecting your hard-earned money while ensuring that vital services remain accessible to all.

Among his key initiatives that he has supported include:

  • A.2668 (Estate Tax Relief): Increase tax credits for New Yorkers, ensuring families can pass on their hard earned property without facing crushing taxes.

  • A.2965 (Veteran Property Tax Exemption): Property tax exemption for veterans with 100% service-connected disabilities, showing gratitude to those who have sacrificed for our nation.

  • A.6392 (Senior Tax Protection): Capping property taxes for seniors at the amount paid when they turned 65, preventing tax increases on elderly residents who live on fixed incomes.

  • A.2915 & A.4572 (Moratorium on Unfunded Mandates): Halt unfunded mandates that burden local governments, while making the state’s tax cap permanent, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

  • A.5951 (Tax Exemptions for Safety Measures): Tax exemptions for purchasing fire extinguishers, alarms, and other residential safety devices, making safety more affordable for families.

  • A.3079 (Senior Dependent Exemption): Additional tax exemptions for individuals supporting elderly dependents, providing financial relief to caregivers.

Through these and other legislative efforts, Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz is working to ensure a brighter financial future for Long Islanders. With a focus on keeping taxes low, making government smaller, and reducing unfunded mandates, Jake is putting the people first—because every dollar saved is a dollar that can be reinvested in our community.

Public Safety

Ensuring the safety and security of our families is crucial. With one-party control leading to increased crime, I have fought to reforming public safety policies.  I will continue to lead the fight to repeal the state’s cashless bail law and provide law enforcement with the tools and support they need to restore the safety of our suburban neighborhoods.  I’ve introduced key pieces of legislation, such as the New York State AI Child Safety Act to protect children from online dangers and the Swift Act to ensure that the unlawful distribution of sexually explicit deepfakes, including those generated by artificial intelligence, are removed and enforced criminally.  A proud advisory board member of the Nassau County Police Foundation, Jake will work with police, not against them, to keep our communities safe and ensure they have the resources needed to fight crime.

Housing and Zoning

Proper housing and zoning regulations protect our communities. My legislative efforts in this area include:

  • A2696: Authorizing on-site inspections of housing for zoning violations to enforce illegal housing laws.

  • A10139: Allowing the Town of Oyster Bay to convey parklands to the Department of Environmental Conservation, ensuring proper management and protection.

Protecting Property Rights

Safeguarding property rights is a cornerstone of our community’s stability and prosperity. To address issues affecting property owners, I successfully led a statewide effort to eliminate squatters’ rights by clarifying the definition of “tenant” to exclude squatters, ensuring that property owners can effectively manage and control their properties.

Education

Empowering our parents, teachers, students, and schools, thereby ensuring quality education is a top priority. My initiatives include:

  • A6888: Requiring high school students to learn about the Federalist Papers and the U.S. Constitution, fostering a deeper understanding of our government.

  • A10157: Enacting the “Educator Expense Assistance Act” to support teachers with classroom expenses.

Healthcare and Wellbeing

Access to healthcare and mental health support is essential for our community.  I’ve introduced measures to improve these services:

  • A6151: Establishing a loan forgiveness program for mental health professionals working in jails and prisons.

  • A7577: Establishing the Hospice and Palliative Care Workgroup to support and improve end-of-life care services.

  • A10479: Enacting the "Foreign Drug Transparency Act" to increase transparency around drug imports.

Environmental Protection

Protecting our natural resources is critical.  Residents can count on me to be the loudest advocate for environmental sustainability, fighting climate change, and protecting our drinking water.  My efforts include:

  • A10164: Introducing the Bethpage Community Park Cleanup Independent State Monitorship for rigorous environmental oversight.

  • A5015: Addressing hydraulic dredging in Mill Neck Creek to safeguard local waters.

Economic Relief and Reform

Addressing economic challenges and ensuring responsible government spending are key focuses:

  • A6893: Requiring bills with unfunded mandates to be reviewed by the state comptroller for fiscal impact.

  • A6876: Requiring a two-thirds majority for tax revenue increases, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

  • A3079: Providing an additional personal exemption for residents 65 years or older to help with tax relief.

  • A7720: Improving the process for voting on state tax rate increases to ensure fair representation.

  • A7935: Enhancing the Excelsior Research and Development Tax Credit to encourage innovation and support local research efforts.

Consumer Protection

Protecting consumers from unfair practices and ensuring transparency is essential.  My efforts in this area include:

  • A10479: Enacting the “Foreign Drug Transparency Act” to ensure clear information about drug imports and their origins.

Supporting Vulnerable Populations

Advocating for those in need and ensuring fair treatment is fundamental. My initiatives include:

  • A2674: Creating the Teacher Training Initiative Fund for Autism to improve educational support for students with autism.

  • A10154: Enacting the "Unique Abilities Employment Act" to promote job opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

This platform highlights my commitment to effective leadership and tangible results. With your continued support, we can build on our successes and work toward an even brighter future for the 15th Assembly District and beyond.
